Prosecutors believe that 29-year-old Ramiro Ulises Escobar Gonzalez was ‘talking over a beer’ around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 outside of 25 Waterfront Place in Port Chester. Gonzalez then pulled out a revolver and fired three shots at the victim, one of which hit him in the chest, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino Jr. said.

The victim called 911 before spending several weeks in the hospital for treatment. Gonzalez, a Port Chester resident, was arrested later that evening.

A Westchester County grand jury handed up a four-count indictment Monday, Nov. 26 before County Court Judge Susan Cacace.

Charges include:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony
  • Assault in the First Degree, a class B violent felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C violent felony (two counts)

Gonzalez’s next scheduled court date is Tuesday, Dec. 11.
